I am up to my ears in homework and other stuff to Get Done before we go to Florida next weekend. The pile may soon engulf me. Boo, hiss! I have so much reading, and writing, and assignments of various lengths and intensities, and also the normal about-to-travel stuff that Ryan and I both have to do. Some of it is kind of fun though - this week my children's lit collection development class is reading series books, so I am reading Babysitters Club books and Nancy Drew for school! :) It's so weird, but kind of fun.

But tomorrow, we are playing hooky, because we are celebrating Ryan's birthday (his birthday is actually the 19th, but we'll be in Florida then and we wanted to celebrate here too. :)). He wants to go to the aquarium in Mystic, and do various other Mystic-y things, so that is what we will be up to. And because Crazy Burger gives the birthday boy a free dinner, we'll probably go there too. I am so abandoning my diet for tomorrow, because...what's a party with millet day, you know? ;)

I wanted to take a minute to report on the Migraine Situation, for those of you following along at home. I went to the doctor yesterday, and he prescribed a teeny tiny dose of an antidepressant. (It's a tricyclic, not an SSRI...I mentioned to him that he'd mentioned Prozac before and he said something like "Hmm, I wonder why I said Prozac? They do use Prozac for this, but it isn't usually what I prescribe". Odd.) For perspective, the dose given for depression is, he said, usually 75-150 mgs/day, and he prescribed 10mg/day for me. I don't feel great about this, but it is a tiny dose and he said if I want to, I can alternate between this and kava. So I think that's what I'll do, thus splitting the good and bad of each one, you know? And meanwhile, assuming this works out, I can work on other solutions, too. So I'm feeling less panicky and frustrated, because at least I have a new course of action and perhaps I can be less consumed by it all the time. Wish me luck, again. I think I will continue my rotation diet for a while longer, but probably in a much more casual manner.

And now I need a shower, and a break.

Where in Florida will you be?

What medicine did he prescribe? I have taken Elavil for the same reason, though it seriously did not agree with me. :/

He gave me the generic for Elavil. What, may I ask, did it do to you? I took one last night, and today I felt really drowsy and a little dry-mouthed, but that's all. We'll see what happens, I guess, huh?

We'll be at Disney World with Ryan's family for most of the week, and we're probably going to spend one day away from Disney at New Smyrna(?) beach, where his uncle lives. Ryan grew up going to New Smyrna on vacation, so it'll be fun for me to see everything he talks about there. :) I'm definitely excited, although right now I'm mostly stressed about preparations.

The Elavil made me extremely fatigued, and way more PMS moody than any person should have to deal with. Cried, yelled, etc over the most basic things. A lot. It is suspect that it might have been because I was taking EPO capsules at the time, but I was fed up afgter 2 weeks I just quit totally. Others seem to be ok on it. Hope it goes well for you though.

I am in Maitland, which is about 45 minutes north of Disney (Disney is actually south of Orlando, and I am north of Orlando). You'll pass it after going through downtown Orlando while going to New Smyrna. I prefer the Gulf beaches myself. Wish you had more time...I'd love to get together, if only for dinner or a coffee/tea, etc. The weather lately has been pleasant, minus yesterday's weird hail/thunderstorms...high in the upper 70's/low 80's and low in the 60's. Pretty nice...wish it would not get much warmer, but it will. :(

mmm babysitters' club :) those were my favorite books ever in late elementary school. i read them all, and my favorite favorites were the Super Special ones, or whatever they were called, when they'd be really thick and they'd go on vacation or something. actually i still think of the one where they went to disney world whenever i'm there heh. also, i used to love the tv show; i think it came on sunday mornings. and wasn't there a movie? yes, i just looked it up, and there was. good stuff.

Why certainly! Alice in Wonderland is Ryan's favorite (though not so much the Disney version, the *real* version.). :) If I see any Alice characters wandering around, I will try to get my picture taken with them for you. And stuff.

oh boy oh boy disney is right!
