My daughter pronounces "necklace" Ke$ha-style. (Kay-dollarsign-ha!) She was asleep in my lap this afternoon (nap extenion time, I was reading), and she woke up for a second, looked at my necklace, said "Your neck-a-luss, I love it" and went back to sleep. ;)

A bit more kid talk:
Since I already talked about it once and didn't jinx it TOO badly, I'm going to go ahead and say it: Sophie has been fabulous lately. The time change has been awesome, for us - I took advantage of the opportunity to move her nap to noonish instead of 11ish, and her bedtime moved by about half an hour (from sometime between 7 and 7:30 to sometime between 7:30 and 8). She's sleeping well, taking good naps, generally good-natured, and suddenly willing to entertain (she sang songs for her grandparents this weekend, for example). We went out for dinner this evening with [livejournal.com profile] viellen (my diva heroine, yo!) and Shawn and we were out until Sophie's bedtime - and she did really well! I got to enjoy my dinner and company! Thumbs up.

Between awesome baby (seriously, we had two tantrum-free days over here YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW) and SUN AFTER 6PM OHMYGOD I am feeling optimistic and happy. Why must we ever change the clocks again? Seriously dudes. I don't ever want to go back!

Hooray for happy Sophie-beebs!

Cecily's word necklace is "Nuh-Nuhh!" and she points them out all the time and then checks her own neck for one. Though she doesn't have one and she looks a little disappointed about it every time.

Sophie's been checking her neck too, but she does have a necklace (of the amber teething variety) and she says "stays on" when she touches it now. Heh. ;)

How old is Cecily now?

I can't believe she speaks in such complex sentences already, that's wonderful! She is so bright.

Well, keep in mind that what actually came out of her mouth was kinda like "er neck-a-luss, i wuv it", but yeah, she is crazily verbal. It's interesting how all the kids her age that I know excel at different things - I think about this every time her talking comes up, kind of. Her friend Tavi, for example, doesn't really talk but he can move like a cat (he falls and keeps his head up, always lands on his feet, he can climb faster than I can register what he's doing...:)). And Denver - I know I've said this, but I'm so impressed with her imagination and mimicry of adult behaviors! So I do think Sophie's very bright, but talking also seems to be her Thing, you know? :)

Your baby is filled with extra awesome-sauce and amazingness. I pretty much lurve her. It's a shame you pay such close attention so I was unable to throw her in the trunk of my car and take her home with me. :P

That waitress? I want her to be my personal pick-me-up-woman. :D

You can come squeeze my baby any time, you don't even have to steal her! Less work for you that way, too. ;) And let's plan an Asiana date soon.

Also yes, that waitress was pretty awesome. Her response to your tattoo was exactly accurate. :)

What is your opinion of amber necklaces? Do you think they work? Thinking of getting my friend one -- their 3 month old is starting to grow a tooth.

Well...I honestly don't think it's really helping Sophie. When she's teething, she's miserable, and we have to use painkillers to get any sleep. I don't know that there's any factual backup for their effectiveness, either. That said, I think they look nice, and if they're taking the edge off in some small way that's fabulous. Some people swear by them, though - I think Tasha feels they have helped her kids. So in the end, I think it's worth getting one for your friend. :) It can't hurt and if nothing else, it's a special thing to wear!

Without me explaining this post to her at all, Laurel said "neck-a-luss luss luss" this morning about one of her toy necklaces. (She normally says "neck-a-luss.") She had no idea why I was laughing. :)
