So, migraine-wise, things are much better. Since I've started on the Elavil, I've gone 20 days without any significant migraine activity (:)). Today I have migrainey-ness, but without the actual pain and nausea. This translates to having that special brand of sleepy-and-out-of-it that I only experience when I have a migraine, along with a mild version of the tell-tale shoulder pain and smell sensitivity. I made a key lime pie tonight, and the condensed milk? Just about the scariest smell ever. (Though I'm starting to be pretty grossed out by dairy products in general - with the exception of cheese and ice cream, which aren't going anywhere anytime soon.)

But this is totally something I can live with. I'm moody and tired with a sensitive nose, but otherwise totally functional. And I'm not nauseated or in horrible pain! So it's all good. Overall, I don't want to jinx myself or anything, but I'm doing a *lot* better. :)

Today I finished "The Music of Dolphins" by Karen Hesse, and worked on the Tori Amos book some more (the biography, which I've been working on in bits for like a month now). I am really enjoying the Tori book. I'm learning a lot, actually, or at least collecting materials from which to learn a lot, from following her various thought/reading trails - it seems like she reads everything, and her knowledge of myth and archetypes and religion and stuff is really extensive and interesting. Sometimes I can't follow her because my knowledge of a lot of the stuff she talks about is very limited, but that's where the new thought/reading trails come in. :)

The tired is eating me! I'm going to go get ready for bed now.

Yeah, I was really, really drowsy for the first few days of it. But I stuck it out, and it got much better. Now I feel slightly drowsy, but only sometimes, and it's very manageable. I also get drunk very easily since I started taking it - at least based on the one glass of champagne I had the other night that had me giggling and tipsy just like that. ;) But otherwise, I have no real problems on it, and it is definitely taking the edge off. I did end up having a full-fledged migraine last night that I took Imitrex for this morning, but it was the first one in three weeks, and that's a huge improvement over before.

What dosage are you taking?

Just 10 mg/day. I take it at night, which I think may have helped with the drowsiness, but I have no basis for comparison so I'm not sure.

I think that is what they gave me, but I think I took it in the morning, not night. I cried at everything.
