So, we turn on the TV last night to put on a DVD, and what is on but 7th Heaven, with the approximate following monlogue by Some Guy I Didn't Recognize:

"do you *really* think Sadaam Hussein wasn't involved in the terrorist attacks on 9/11? Are you that naive?...Our President went into this war for a reason, and we should support him! Now don't go bringing up how he got elected - it doesn't matter now, because now he is President. And a great President too! "

It goes on.

The girl he is talking to keeps *kissing* him when he pauses to take a breath. Ryan and I watch in horror, unable to look away.

Cut to the parents, watching and listening from another room. One of them says something about the passion in this conversation being quite contagious and how maybe they should run off somewhere... but oh wait, everyone's at home! "No one's in the basement!" says the mom. They run off to the basement to have, uh, Adult Married Relations. At this, we shudder and turn on the DVD (which, by the way, was Family Guy, a welcome change of pace).

I just thought I'd share that little ray of sunshine with you all. :)

Eww? Adult Married Relations inspired by the President's hawk rhetoric? Why do people watch this show, anyway?

really? it doesn't matter at ALL how he got elected? man. i always assumed that 7th heaven was a product of extremely conservative freaks, but this is really freaky conservativism. which means sex is okay as long as you are a minister, apparently.:)
as for sadamm, i am pleased that he is not in power as he has proved to be evil and cruel to his own people...but to thank this buffoon of a president for blundering his way into capturing him? ick.

anyway.:)

and what does it mean when there is a padlock next to one of your entries? that always mystifies me.:)

the padlock means it's either a filter or a friendslocked post. if you look under "security level" on the bottom of an update screen, you'll see "public", "private", "friends", or "custom..."

Private means it's a post only you can see.

You can friendslock a post, meaning only the people on your friendslist will see it (I did that with my party post, for example, so that only people who I know will see it, and come to my party :))

You can also sort your friends into groups, and post only to some of those groups (that's the "custom..." bit). Since I have a lot of friends and communities added, I filter them into groups to post to sometimes. You can tell your friends you are making friends-filters and ask them which they wanted to be included in...so, for example, if you write a lot about your love life or your dog and only certain people are interested in your love life or your dog, you can add just them to the filter and then posts about your dog will only show up to them, thus not bothering other people who really hate dogs. :)

Also, if you join a community and want only members of the community to see the post, you can pick "friends" on the community entry, and it will only show up to members of the community.

Sorry that's so long-winded, I get like that. Does it help? :)
