Feb. 21st, 2007 09:58 amI went to bed last night around 10:15 with a migraine, which sucked - but I took Imitrex and went to sleep, and didn't wake up until 9 this morning (when Ryan woke me, actually). Wowee. :) Vacation is nice!
Meanwhile, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] is closed just for this week, and it's an incredibly weird feeling. Us mod-type people needed a break and a chance to discuss stuff, so it's good - it just feels really strange.
I meant to share these articles about VP with my friendslist too, and kept forgetting:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3 will go up on Friday, I believe. We all got interviewed for the articles, and we are pretty happy about them! (Just ignore the random question marks, we don't know why they are there.)
In other news, this year's Newbery winner contains the word 'scrotum'. Watch as people everywhere, including LIBRARIANS, who are not supposed to DO THIS SORT OF THING, freak out completely. In the story, a dog gets bitten by a snake on his scrotum. The author says this is based on real events, and she chose to use the real word because it's just the name of a body part. People are upset because they don't know how on earth they will explain this to The Children. Ryan and I talked about this yesterday, and I think the best explaination would be to simply say "that's part of the dog's private parts". Kids giggle, but understand, and we move on. Now, I will still want to mention this issue to my principal before buying the book, because that's just coveringour collective butts all my bases. But it;s a Newbery winner, and one should buy the Newbery winner, you know?
I've been listening to the same song on repeat for about half an hour now. Maybe it's time to make a change.
