Thanks to Pretty Much Amazing and The World Forgot, I've been exploring new music tonight. Prepare for music ramblings!

"Valerie Plame" by The Decemberists seems like pretty standard Decemberistness, and I liked it fine, but it didn't feel like whatever magic they put into things like "Here I Dreamt I Was An Architect" and "California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade" was there. Still, a new Decemberists album interests me, for sure. And "I'm Not Gonna Teach Him" (The Twelves Kickmix) by the Black Kids is way fun - more of a party than the original track.

MGMT is apparently what the cool kids listen to these days, and guess what? I liked "Electric Feel". It sounds like an ipod commercial. Was it one? It should be. :)

DJ Earworm is my new pal. I continue to love "United State of Pop" - a mashup of the top 25 songs of 2007, which totally transcends all of the songs and makes them one fabulous thing of awesomeness. But I found "Reckoner/Love Lockdown" mixed by DJ Earworm, and it's totally awesome. Fall Out Boy's cover of "Love Lockdown" is also pretty great, in that it rocks it harder than Kanye did. Kanye, apparently your song is good base material, though I was not that impressed with it in it's original form (to be fair, I think I listened to a low quality version of it, though.)

I think I love the new Britney leak, ("Kill The Lights"), but a)I am predisposed to that and b) I only listened to it once at a lower volume than I deem appropriate since it is night and we have a downstairs neighbor, so I cannot say for sure.

I am thoroughly disappointed by the T-Pain/Justin Timberlake song, though. The way PMA was hyping it up, I was expecting less vocorder slow jamminess and more...you know, fun. Not that I can't get behind a good slow jam, but uh...yeah, this was not what I was hoping for. And I admit to liking T-Pain's "Buy You A Drank". (Even with the lyrics "when I whisper in your ear your legs hit the chandelier"!!!) ADMITTING THAT IS BIG, PEOPLE. We all know I have no pride when it comes to trashy, dirty pop.

I will say, however, that the new Akon song has the STUPIDEST LYRICS EVER WRITTEN. No, really. Just because you can rhyme "dine" with "grind"...sort of, if you're imaginative, doesn't mean that you should! Also, she (or he?) was his "homie, lover and friend"? OH AKON, THAT IS SO ROMANTIC. I WILL TOTES SLEEP WITH YOU NOW.

Also, I just need to profess my undying love for "New York I Love You" by LCD Soundsystem. It is so great. As is, by the way, "Someone Great", also by LCD Soundsystem. These are songs you won't be ashamed of listening to, either! They're legitimately good. I think you can trust me on this, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Phew. Music orgasm! Ryan hooked up speakers in the living room for me to use with my computer and that makes everything easier. I can listen to my music again! Praise be to Ryan (who gets props all around, yo).
