mangofandango: (selluinaer - b&w)
Last night, I tried on a sample I'd gotten of Memory of Kindness by CB I Hate Perfume. It smells just like tomato plants, it's kind of disturbingly accurate. I had an instant scent memory, and oddly enough, it was of my grandfather's garden, on a sunny day. I was pinching tomato leaves and smelling my hands, and watching bees on little blue flowers, and running through the rows of corn. I was short, because I was younger than 5 - the corn was really, really tall, and the tomatoes came up to my head. Last night, I fell asleep with the scent on my wrists and dreamed about gardens and sunshine.

I also dreamed, oddly enough, about going to a theme park where there were a bunch of movie auditions taking place, and I auditioned to do a voice for an anime movie - complete with weird, high-pitched, strangely intonated speech. Then I drove around in the rain at night with a car full of babies and toddlers and possibly my mother - in Lake George or Saratoga or something. ANALYZE THAT.

Today is Friday, which means my weekend has begun. I was so very ready for this day to come. :)

Thanks to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], I just spent 10 happy minutes laughing about The Viagra Prank. If you need entertainment, start here!

And since I'm catching up on several days worth of weblog reading, I have other links to share with you.

Pumpkins shaped like human heads are downright creepy.

Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, and Allison Janey - I am so going to see Juno (link is to the YouTube trailer.)

Nancy Drew-related blog posts always make me happy. Nancy has mad skillz, including saving her friend from "rolling off a cliff into a bonfire", extensive knowledge of avian anatomy, prizewinning flower arranging techniques, and breaking codes with nothing but her "huge brain".

STOP YOUR SCLAUNDRES OF BRITNEY ANON. For ich speke of the treuthe. If eny of yow hath a problem with Britney, thou kanst do battle with me, Geoffrey Chaucer.

Mika's "Happy Ending" is such a good, terribly terribly sad, song. Then today, I saw the music video. And it's, um, trippy. Mika wakes up and is lifted into the sky by a balloon, where he encounters lots and lots of disembodied hands. The disembodied hands do their best "Labyrinth" impression, which seems to please Mika greatly. He floats off into the...moonlight(?) and then his alrm goes off. All this to the tune of a seriously sad song. See this acid trip unfold!

Some woman in Maine has decided that "It's Perfectly Normal", a fuzzy little oft-challenged children's book on sex and puberty, is "pornographic" (probably because of the totally non-sexualized drawings of naked people, demonstrating the variety in human bodies, and obviously the general subject matter), and to keep innocent eyes away from this filthy filthy tome, she has decided NOT TO RETURN IT. Great, lady, steal the book! Theft is the answer to everything. You've totally preserved the moral high ground in this situation!

And now I'm in need of some espresso and cookies. Boy, I love Fridays. :)

As a followup to my previous post, I just sat quietly and listened to "Happy Ending", on my headphones, really loud.

And that, my friends, is something worth doing. Just be careful of the mood swings.
