Edited to add books 11 and 12:

"The Beast" by Walter Dean Myers
I feel I should have something to say about this book, but I really don't know what it is. It was good, but I'm without commentary.

"Perfume: The Story of a Muderer" by Patrick Suskind
This was a royally messed-up story, in the awesomest of ways. It's a book about a psychopath with an amazing sense of smell, but no scent of his own - and the power of scent, even when we never notice it.

Book #13
"Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things" by Ted Naifeh

A graphic novel I was pre-screening for the kidlets. It's pretty awesome, actually. It's a few short stories about Courtney discovering the "night things" in the old mansion she and her family have moved into, and getting into your classic magical scrapes that she's just barely saved from by either mysterious Uncle Aloysius or her own smarts. Courtney has a bad attitude, and she's adorable - kinda Buffy, but brattier.

I think I may be missing something that I read...must check.

We saw "Junebug" the other night, also. I really, really liked it. And my budding crush on one Mr. Ben McKenzie kinda blossomed as I watched. I should have disliked his character, but I loved him. And the pregnant girl? Also horrible and wonderful and completely loveable. This movie just left me completely tickled. TICKLED I tell you. From the OH SO INDIE lengthy silent shots of trees and rooms to the cut scene with the gallon of tea, just...tickled. :)

There may be a big snowstorm on Wednesday, the first one we've really had this year. Could it be...a SNOW DAY? Only time will tell. I will keep you posted, friends.

We've had quite a bit of rain out here the last couple of days. It could be that our storm is heading your way.

Not really relevant to the post, but I was curious to know what you program you did at URI. You're a school librarian, right?

I am!

My undergrad program was Communication Studies. For grad school, I did library and information science, which is what you have to do to be a librarian, and my focus was school library media. The GSLIS is in Rodman hall, which is behind the library - it's tiny and weird. It has a cool brick front, and then from the sides it pretty much looks like a jail. ;) It used to be a gym, I guess, and they converted it into offices and classrooms.

Thanks!

I've been researching all sorts of grad programs recently. I really want to be a teacher or at least do something that would put me in a school so I've been looking a bunch of programs at URI and RIC.

have you ever read anything by meredith ann pierce? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meredith_Ann_Pierce) She's a librarian that I work with during my field placement and I just found out that she's a fairly famous author. Just wondering if you had heard of her and what you thought. I'll have to pick up some of her books now

I haven't! Now I'm curious though. If you get some of the books, let me know if they are any good! :)

well, sage has already closed and canceled EVERYTHING for tomorrow, which i think has never happened beore, so maybe that is a good sign in regards to snow days everywhere. since there hasn't been snow at all, i think the thought of two feet-ish has everyone in a tizzy. especially mother in laws.:) i swear if i get one more call asking if we had the presence of mind to have FOOD in the house i might freak out.:)

i'm going ot go play in the road with no pants now cause rob;s mom didn;t call and tell me not too.
