(no subject)

Today Ryan and I found this awesome coffee shop in Charlestown. They had the best strawberry cream cheese crossaint ever, and I should have gotten another one to take home with me because I've been thinking about this thing all day long. It was that good. I want to live there. :) Too bad it's like half an hour away. But they have gardens and big hills out back, and there's a little shop next to it that I want to check out next time. There were dominoes on all the tables, so Ryan and I played - but only a little because we hadn't quite figured out how scoring worked. And um, did I mention they had really awesome strawberry cheesecake croissants? (I've just used that word like 5 times and I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right. Hmm.) It seems we find these little places - random coffee shops and the like - and I go through temporary but intense bursts of wanting to go there constantly and drink their coffee and eat their croissants. It gradually fades over time. But if I ever find one I live closer to one...beware.

We also walked all over Westerly. We checked out the grocery store (we were screening Westerly for potential living locations, just for fun) and found it lacking. But there was a great little toy store. Did you know Polly Pocket has grown exponentially - the the point where her little universe no longer fits in, say, your pocket? I didn't, but I do now! A lot of the toys I had when I was a kid were just the same though, which was weird but also cool. They had loads of Playmobil stuff, and I remembered the zoo and the castle and the farm...:)

I like Westerly. I like walking by the river, and I love the big library, and the park is beautiful (and owned by the library!!). I like the candy store with the little old man who likes to talk about truffles. Also, Westerly pizza. Mmm. I took pictures of the coffee shop and other stuff today, and I will post some of those tomorrow.

I was just saying yesterday that my journal has degenerated into "here's what I did today" posts. And what did I post today? Yeah. I need to write real things again sometime. Please kick me in the pants if I don't. And/or ask me lots of questions I can answer in a new, insightful, witty post. ;) Or something.

But I'm so thankful for posts like these because I love windows into my friends' lives, but I also love the insightful way that you relate the experiences. It all sounds so lovely.

Also, I am weirded out by the Polly Pocket, and I adored Playmobil toys.

Also, questions to answer: What's the scariest thing you've ever done? What's your favorite childhood memory? What was your wedding like?

P.S. Thank you for the e-mail! It was wonderful and just what I needed, and I'll reply ASAP.

You're very welcome. I'm glad it was helpful - I really couldn't tell when I wrote it if I'd said anything worth saying. I'm not being randomly self-depricating, I just honestly couldn't tell. I don't feel like I really know what I'm talking about yet when it comes to this whole library school thing, and I'm halfway through! Heh. :)

But yeah, I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, and if I can be clearer or answer any more questions or anything, let me know. I didn't think to ask - what sort of library work are you interested in?

It's good to read these little tidbits, not only because it's interesting to hear how other people conduct their day-to-day lives (the differences and similarities continue to astound me) but also because I like hearing what RI is like "without me" (as if it would stop if I didn't live there any more! ha!) through someone else's eyes.

I had a LOT of Playmobil as a kid. Those were great toys. My sister and I had them when they first came out and their bodies were fused together, all one color, and you couldn't even turn their hands. When they got nicer, we used to pop off their hair and put it on different people to change how they looked.

my brother had the playmobile pirate ship, and i always wanted the victorian mansion, but never got it :( but, one of my cousins had it, and i would occasionally get to play with it at my great aunts house. that same cousin also had the disney monorail toy. did you see that in the stores while you were here? i was jealous of that too.

I'm happy to see all your LJ updates. I have less and less to do as the semester is winding down and I find myself checking for posts or some form of my friends. I miss you! I wish Kelly and Raina would enter more often. I think I'm becoming addicted to LJ and if I get a digital camera this summer, I think I may have to get a snazzier version so I can post all the photos and such.

I'll ask ya some questions: If you were to organize a protest, what would it be against or for? How would you do it? If you could be any type of chair, what would you be (colors, texture, etc.) and why? Who would you want to sit in you? :)

Any type of chair, you say? I'll have to think about that one. ;)

Yeah, LJ is definitely an addictive thing. Give it time, you'll get even more sucked in - with LJ communities and reading your friends' friendspages and changing icons every two minutes and oh boy. :)
