Let's make a blanket fort.
Jan. 17th, 2011 04:52 pmI had been thinking for a while that I wanted to start writing about food, and talking about what we get in our CSA shares and what I make with that food, because I put significant thought into our meals each week and it would be useful for me to go back and look at what I have made in the past, for ideas and whatnot. That was sort of brewing in my head when I got the email from our CSA farm - their barn burned to the ground last week, taking a lot of their equipment, all their storage crops, freezers full of meat and frozen food, storage spaces, etc. with it. So now I have no CSA until maybe April, and I am really sad about it. We got our last delivery on Wednesday, because they had packed the truck and sent it off to deliver shares before noticing the fire. So I'm eating all this awesome food and at the same time, we're mourning the end of each thing. Today I roasted all but 3 of the carrots. The last of Pete's carrots! Tragic!
So anyway, now I am back to having to think up our meal plan based on something other than the CSA newsletter, and meh. Sure, I won't have to figure out what to do with celeriac this week, but that was part of the fun! I hope they raise lots of money and rebuild quickly.
In non-food news...well. I don't actually have that much to report. Sophie turned 18 months last week, which is big, and I've been meaning to write a post for her baby blog so I'm kind of saving my effort for that. :) Ryan was home today for the holiday, so now I have the Sunday blues on Monday evening and I'm kind of wishing we could just hibernate for the rest of the week. I want like, movies and popcorn and hot chocolate. Maybe blanket forts.
It is time to make dinner, maybe I will be back later for memeage.
