I jinxed myself earlier with my cataloging optimism. My homework is biting me ferociously as a result. MARC records be damned! I feel dumb, because all the rules are there, but I don't understand them well enough to follow them. Me and my textbook are going to hang out for a while and see if that helps. Grr.

I find MARC highly frustrating, but couple MARC with Z39.50 lookup and you don't have to do your own record-creation. I have some perl scripts which are quite good at finding MARC records -- they're a horrible kludge, but if they'd help I can kick them your way.
